New Red Light Cam Added – Van Buren & Dufferin

with 3 comments

A new red light camera was installed at northbound and southbound Van Buren, as it crosses Dufferin.  The city now has 18 red light cameras all over the city.  Check them out on my Google map or they are located at:

• Arlington Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard
• Lime Street and Mission Inn Avenue
• Magnolia Avenue and Tyler Street
• Van Buren Boulevard and Indiana Avenue
• Trautwein Road and Van Buren Boulevard
• Alessandro Boulevard and Sycamore Canyon Boulevard
• Chicago Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard
• Central Avenue and Canyon Crest Drive
• Third Street and Chicago Avenue
• Columbia Avenue and Main Street
• Iowa Avenue and University Avenue
• Tyler Street and Indiana Avenue
• Market Street and University Avenue
• Van Buren Boulevard and Wood Road
• Indiana Avenue and Arlington Avenue
• Mulberry Street and Fourteenth Street
• Chicago Avenue and Alessandro Boulevard

A friend got a ticket over a month ago and has been trying to pay his fine but it isn’t in the system yet.   He is supposed to go to court in Moreno Valley to tell them he’s attempting to pay his fine.  Maybe they forgot to put it in the system?  Does that happen?  He was questioning it in the first place because he claims there were traffic signs that indicated to him he should come to a stop then proceed.  However, the photo shows the light was very red when he rolled through it.

Freeway Closures: None

leave a comment »

We just got back from Orange County and took the 91 back with no slowing or incidents.  It seemed so unreal that I checked the CHP traffic incident page and the Caltrans daily closure report for the area and there was absolutely nothing listed for this area tonight.  Wow.

What is the alternate route if the I-15 south of the Nevada border is closed?  Caltrans says:

IS CLOSED FROM 14.6 MI SOUTH TO 12.4 MI SOUTH OF THE NEVADA STATE LINE
(SAN BERNARDINO CO) FROM 0800 HRS TO 1000 HRS TUESDAY THRU WEDNESDAY THRU
7/2/08 – DUE TO BLASTING – MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE

Sigalert.com has a new beta site available to test.  It looks better than the current site, but the PE linked beta version has Moreno Valley and the regular beta version has Morena Valley.

I don’t know why, but I am compelled to check traffic whenever I hop on the freeway, even if it is just to go a few miles.  Aside from having a regular GPS unit in my car, Google Maps Mobile is the way to go.  Especially on a Blackberry.

Photo Enforced Lights in Riverside

with one comment

As seen in Instant Riverside, a photo enforcing red light camera took a great picture of a suspect in a kidnapping/robbery on Tuesday. Those cameras are annoyingly, amazingly clear. A few Several of my friends and co-workers have gotten one on the corner of Tyler and Magnolia.

I’ve been inspired to create a Google Maps mashup of photo enforced lights in Riverside. Know of any that I missed? Let me know.

Best Of: Coolest Laudromat

leave a comment »

We need to find a laundromat or laundry solution for our new place. Our current home has washer/dryer hookups but now we are moving into a place that has none (that we know of). There is a single washer and dryer for four townhouses, so I’m thinking we may need to find a place to do bulk washing every once in a while.

Where’s the best place to do laundry? Criteria would include cleanliness, safety, ambiance and location. Suggestions welcome!

I found some in Google to check out –>  Riverside Laundromats – Google.com
