To Do This Week

  1. No barbecuing, burning holes in leaves with magnifying glasses, talking on cell phones while pumping gas or anything else that might cause a fire or add to the already out of control fires that are burning throughout our area and the Southland in general. There is heavy smoke in every direction and the freeways I commute on are closed indefinitely. Really scary. Got defensible space?
  2. Like pecans? They’re not my absolute favorite nuts but I wouldn’t kick a pecan pie out of bed. This Saturday, October 27th is the Pecan Festival at Louis Rubidoux Nature Center, where you can gather all of the pecans you need for your baking for FREE. J and I want to check it out and possibly take a hayride or play with a llama.
  3. Love the dead? We don’t celebrate Dia De Los Muertos until next week, but it’s good to plan ahead, right? The Riverside Metropolitan Museum is having a Dia De Los Muertos Celebration on Friday, November 2nd. Also on the agenda is the First Annual Dia De Los Muertos Art Show at the Black Iris Studio Gallery (link to their myspace) in Fontana, on Friday, November 2nd at 8:00 pm. We’re really looking forward to checking that out. Both J and I love the art and I have always wanted to get a DDLM tattoo of some sort.
